On 11th/12th July 2010 last Solar Eclipse of the Year “Total Solar Eclipse” will occur. This Eclipse is visible totally from the Cook Island, French Polynesia, the south-eastern Pacific Ocean and the southern most parts of Chile and Argentina. Whereas it is visible partially from southern parts of South America and the South Pacific Ocean. However this Solar Eclipse is not visible in India.
Timings in Indian Standard Time (IST): The Various phases of Eclipse begins at 10.39pm on 11th July, 2010 and Ends at 3.27 a.m. next day i.e. 12th July 2010. Wherein the central Phase begins at 11.47 pm on 11th July and ends at 02.20 a.m. on 12th July.
Greatest Eclipse/Duration of Eclipse at totality: The greatest phase of eclipse will occur at 1.03 a.m. on 12th July when the Sun’s Disk is obscured by moon totally for 5 minutes and 25 Seconds.
Previous and Next Solar Eclipse: The Last Solar Eclipse Visible from India occurred on 15th January, 2010. Whereas the Next Solar Eclipse would occur on 4th January, 2011 which is visible from few northern states in the country. Astronomically speaking the year 2010 ends with a Total Lunar Eclipse which will occur on 21st December, 2010 which again is not visible in India
